2020 Convention Postponement FAQ

What are the new dates?

Our new dates are next Memorial Day Weekend May 28 - 30 2021 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.

Why did it take so long to announce the postponement?

We are well aware this is a question that many of you are asking.

There has been dialogue with the Expo Center about the pandemic for an extended period of time. The conversations were slow initially due to them needing to reschedule events directly in the path of the Government ordered closure of the venue. As our event drew closer, communication with the expo center was slower than we would have liked due to being in the peak of the pandemic. The Expo Center wanted to reschedule us to a new date before closing out our 2020 contract. Unfortunately they had a backlog of many conventions needing to be postponed or canceled. The pandemic caused them to also have limited staff availability which in turn affected the length of how long the rescheduling process took.

We apologize for any inconvenience or uncertainty this may have caused. We very much wanted to answer this question to make sure that everyone has an understanding regarding the situation. We always want to ensure as much transparency as we possibly can. We could not provide any updates or information on any such changes as long as we had a standing contract for 2020 and were working towards a new one.

The Expo Center did an exemplary job handling the situation in the midst of a crisis. This is uncharted territory for all parties involved as well as the convention industry in its entirety.
