Attendee Rules

General Rules

  • All Badges are Non-Refundable.
  • Open Alcohol is prohibited within the convention space. Under no circumstances may someone under 21 be in possession of alcohol.
  • Thy Geekdom Con, and the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center are not responsible for any theft, damages, or loss of personal property. This includes but is not limited to money, props, board games, gaming consoles, video games, etc. It is strongly advised you watch your belongings at all times.
  • Panhandling or selling of merchandise is not permitted unless you are an authorized Exhibitor of the convention.If you wish to sell merchandise at our convention please apply to be an exhibitor.
  • Respect the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, Thy Geekdom Con, and Exhibitors property. You will be held accountable for any damages you have caused.
  • Photography is allowed although you must receive permission to photograph Attendees, Exhibitors, and Children.
  • Respect Thy Geekdom Con and the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center staff and obey their requests. They have the best interests of everyone in mind and are working hard to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.

Health And Illness

  • It is strongly advised that you do not attend the convention if you are experiencing cold or flu- like symptoms.
  • It is mandatory that any party experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms wear a filtered non- cosplay mask at all times during the convention.
  • Proper hygiene is strongly advised throughout the entire convention weekend (i.e. hand washing, showering, etc) to prevent spread of illness and disease.
  • If you are not feeling well seek out convention staff immediately and you will be directed to our onsite EMT.
  • Smoking is prohibited inside of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.

Harassment and Disruptive Behavior

  • Harassment of any kind is not permitted. Harassment consists of but are not limited to
    • Verbal or Physical assault
    • Deliberate intimidation
    • Stalking
    • Unwelcome physical attention
  • If you are being harassed by another party immediately inform Thy Geekdom Con staff of the issue.
  • Disruptive behavior is not permitted. Disruptive behavior consists of but are not limited to
    • Running
    • Yelling or using disruptive noise makers
    • Rough-housing
    • Profanity
    • Public intoxication
    • Blocking traffic flow
    • or any other behavior which is deemed disruptive, dangerous, or that common sense dictates you should not do.
  • Gambling is strictly prohibited.
  • Serious offenses and illegal activities are strictly prohibited and may result in the notification of the proper authorities. Serious offenses include but are not limited to
    • Theft
    • Vandalism
    • Assault
    • Illegal drugs
    • or any other action deemed highly disruptive or illegal.

Dress Code and Cosplay

  • Thy Geekdom Con is a family-friendly event. Everyone attending the event is asked to dress accordingly. Thy Geekdom Con staff reserves the right to ask an attendee to change their clothing (or lack thereof) if their attire is deemed inappropriate.
  • Shoes or Footwear are required to be worn at all times.
  • No Skateboards, rollerblades, Heelies, Segways, or any other device that is not used for medically assisted mobility.
  • No Stilts, heels , or platforms above 6 inches in height are permitted.
  • Non-medical masks and helmets should be easily removable upon request by Thy Geekdom Con or the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center staff.

Weapons and Props

  • Live steel weapons are not permitted. Live steel is any object made of metal that is capable of taking an edge, whether or not the object is actually sharp, and whether or not the object is sheathed.
  • Any weapon that can shoot projectiles or has moving parts will not be permitted. Prohibited examples include, but are not limited to: water guns, pistols, rifles, blasters, bb/pellet guns, crossbows, airsoft, paintball guns, dart guns, blow guns, etc
  • Blunt wooden weapons are not permitted. Prohibited examples include, but are not limited to: nunchaku, baton, paddles, etc.
  • No handcuffs or restraint devices are permitted.
  • No explosives or chemicals of any kind are permitted. Prohibited examples include, but are not limited to: pepper spray, poisons, highly acidic chemicals, dynamite, or bombs of any variation, etc.
  • No devices that can discharge electrical current are permitted. Prohibited examples include, but are not limited to: tasers, stun guns, etc.
  • All props must be easily identified as being replica weapons.
  • Weapons purchased from exhibitors at the convention that do not adhere to the previous rules must remain boxed and immediately removed from the premises. Items must be taken to your car, room, or other private quarters. Thy Geekdom Con does not store attendee' items.
  • Misuse of props, by endangering others with it, will result in Thy Geekdom Con staff asking you to remove the prop from the convention space. Examples of misuse are but not limited to: swinging, throwing, shooting, etc.

Signage

  • No advertising signs that are not of current exhibitors or convention sponsors are permitted.
  • No religious or political signs are permitted.
  • No solicitations on signs, shirts, or other clothing are permitted. Prohibited examples include, but are not limited to: “Free Hugs”, “Step on you for $5”, etc
  • No profane or overly sexual text on signs, shirts, or clothing are permitted.
  • Other signs are permitted only if they are an integral part of the costume. Allowed examples include but are not limited to: Genma the Panda in Ranma 1/2 or Phoenix Wright characters, etc.

Minors

  • Anyone under the age of 13 is required to have a parent or guardian with them at all times. Accompanying parents or guardians must also have bought a ticket to the event.
  • One parent or guardian can supervise no more than 4 children under the age of 13. If they exceed the parent/child ratio, they will not be able to attend the event until additional parents or guardians join to assist in supervision.
  • Any children left unattended will be escorted to the lobby outside of the convention area. Thy Geekdom Con will attempt to contact the parent and notify local authorities.

Disclaimer

Attendance is subject to the rules and regulations of Thy Geekdom Con, the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, and local and federal Government. A badge may be revoked and an attendee ejected from the convention for disorderly conduct, a violation of the law or rules, or in the sole discretion of Thy Geekdom Con staff. An attendee acknowledges that by appearing at Thy Geekdom Con he or she may be recorded (by video, sound, or otherwise) and consents to such recording and its publishing and re-broadcasting. In exchange solely for this license, the attendee, in accepting a badge: (i) releases Thy Geekdom Con from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right, or any other claim or cause of action of any kind; (ii) authorizes and permits Thy Geekdom Con and its partners to use for any and all purposes his or her name, voice, and likeness and all reproduction thereof in any and all forms and in all media now or hereafter known in perpetuity; (iii) knowingly and freely assume all such risks related to illness and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist; (iv) agrees to comply with all Thy Geekdom Con rules and regulations.

*Rules can be changed at any time and attendees are expected to adhere to the revisions. Attendees will be notified of all changes made.
